Kochi Becomes The Go-To Destination For Music in Tollywood!

The music industry in South is largely based in Chennai. Many of the music composers have established their studios in Chennai. Music directors like Yuvan Shankar Raj, AR Rahman, Anirudh, Harris Jayaraj and others work from Chennai and even Rockstar Devi Sri Prasad who composes mostly for Telugu movies is based in Chennai. Mani Sharma and Thaman too used to work from Chennai till a few years back.

But our Tollywood filmmakers found another market to find the music directors and it is god's own country Kerala. A lot of music composers from Kerala are becoming busy with Telugu films. Barring a few top music composers like DSP, Thaman and Mani Sharma who are working on star hero projects, the music for all small and medium films is being given by Kerala music directors. In the last couple of years, Gopi Sundar turned out to be one of the busiest music directors in Tollywood. He is giving super hit albums like 'Ninnu Kori', 'Majnu', 'Geetha Govindham' and 'Majili'. He is composing music for Akhil's upcoming movie 'Most Eligible Bachelor'. Jakes Bejoy is another composer who is becoming slowly busy in Tollywood after 'Taxiwaala'.

This way, our Tollywood new generation filmmakers are running behind Kerala composers and leaving behind our home-grown talent. Many young Telugu composers are working for other composers as main musicians.
