How Ganguly Changed Dhonis Fate?
X
Mahendra Singh Dhoni made his ODI debut when Sourav Ganguly was the Indian Skipper in 2004. He, however, underperformed in the first two games at No.7.

Having known the potential of Dhoni, Ganguly promoted him up the order by sacrificing his position for the crucial ODI against Pakistan in Visakhapatnam. MSD was sitting in shorts in the dugout assuming he will be sent at No.7. Then, The Skipper said to him he has to bat a No.3. Dhoni looked visibly surprised and asked Ganguly what about him. Soon, Ganguly informed he would be coming at No.4 instead of No.3.

This match changed the cricket career of Dhoni. The Jharkhand Dynamite scored 148 runs against Pakistan coming at No.3 and helped India win by a margin of 58 runs. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for the match winning knock. That incident is a classic example of Great Leader & Great Player!

By now, Dhoni represented India in 311 ODIs and 113 Tests. He is the only Skipper who fetched India trophies of ODI World Cup 2011, World T20 2007 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
