First Heart transplantation for Guntur Pharmacy Student

Till now we heard about kidney transplantation, Liver transplantation ..But had you ever heard about heart transplantation. The first heart transplantation operation was successfully carried out by Apollo hospital doctors.
A Pharmacy student Anjaneyulu (19) who is a resident of Karampuri Mandal, Guntur district was suffering from a condition called Dilated Cardiomyopathy.
An Apollo Hospitals team led by, cardiothoracic surgeon Vijay Dikshit, had plucked out the failing heart of this pharmacy student, as they were about to receive a heart donated by the family of a youth who suffered with brain dead in Yashoda hospital. In a pre-planned operation, doctors at Yashoda Hospital packed the heart of the brain dead youth and dispatched it to ApolloÂ’s Jubilee.
Veeranjaneyulu has recovered well after surgery, the operation was done free of cost.For a few minutes 19-year-old Veeranjaneyulu was living without a heart,"A couple of hours later, I have got a new life," a beaming Veeranjaneyulu said, putting his hand on his heart — the new one.
Generally it takes around Rs.22 lakh for Heart Transplantation surgery, if more complication arise then Rs.10 lakh more will be charged. Apollo Hyderabad, doing its first heart transplant, has not charged Veeranjaneyulu any fee.
