Major Chandrakanth is a 1993 Telugu patriotic-drama film with Legendary NTR and Mohan Babu in lead roles and directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. The film was released on 23 April 1993. The film was declared as a blockbuster, and later went on to celebrate its silver jubilee. This film marks a last glimpse in Sri N.T.Rama Rao's prolonged film career.
Sharada, Ramya Krishna, Nagma, Amrish Puri, Srihari, Manoj Manchu and Brahmanandam essayed other important roles. It was produced by Mohan Babu under his Sri Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures banner. It had music scored by M.M.Keeravani, story-dialogues written by the Paruchuri brothers, lyrics composed by Jaladi-Gurucharan-Rasaraju, cinematography by Ajay Vincent and art by Bhaskara Raju.
Now, our latest reports reveal that this film is going to be remade!! Yes, you read it right. If our sources are to be believed, Nandamuri Balakrishna is going to essay the role of NTR and Manchu Manoj will be portraying the role of Mohanbabu. Buzz is that this film will also be produced under Sri Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures banner, which produced the original version. The makers are planning to rope in M.M.Keeravani as music director, who composed tunes for the original version too. An official announcement will be made soon on this and more details of cast and crew will be revealed.
