MLAs migration to YSRC: Fear Of Defeat
X
Fear of defeat in the next general elections is giving sleepless nights to the MLAs of the ruling party and prompting them to sail with Kadapa MP and YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy. As Congress has been in power for the past 9 years, anti-incumbency could be high this time and the Jagan factor too is going to work against the party this time.

In 2009, Congress managed to come to power by winning 156 seats out of 294 Assembly seats. But the situation has changed after the sudden demise of YSR in a chopper crash.

Until now, about 26 Congress MLAs have joined YSR Congress which is led by late YS Rajasekhar Reddy's successor Jagan. Out of the these 26 legislators, 14 of them got re-elected on YSRC ticket and 9 of them are currently facing disqualification. In case of a by-elections, chances are that all of them would be re-elected from Jagan's party.

Political observers opine, "While the leaders lacked self confidence to win for the third consequtive time on Congress party ticket, Jagan's mass appeal is attracting the voters and the leaders".
