Its known that a baby boy in Guntur Govt hospital has died, after he was bitten by rats in the intensive care unit. The death of the infant sparked outrage and Media organizations highlighted the news. Now government officials get into action for damage control. Special team of Rat-catchers from east godavari district had been commissioned to clear the rats and as per reports around 100 rats were caught at the hospital by a special team of rat catchers.

Meanwhile hospital super indent said all burrows would be closed and mosquito/insect nets would be installed at all windows and all holes in the wards would be closed with concrete.Several non-political groups have demanding stern action against the officials responsible for the negligence which led to the newborn's death. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu already suspended three officials and announced a probe by the health secretary.

In 2014, 1,200 rats had been caught by rat-catchers at the same hospital but this year no such measures had been taken till now.
