Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the Bullet Train from Ahmedabad in Gujarat to India's financial capital Mumbai with a budget of over Rs 1 lakh crore. And now, The proposal to introduce a Semi High Speech Train covering three Southern States has been approved.
The new train which is dubbed as a brother to high-speed Bullet Train will cover the distance between Warangal and Chennai within 5 hours. It travels at a speed of 200 kmph. Indian Railways struck a deal with Germany for this project.
At present, The speed of Trains operated in this route is just 57 kmph. Whereas, Rajadhani Trains run at a speed of 75.3 kmph. Distance between Warangal and Chennai is 634 km. In between, There are 2016 railway gates and 1979 bridges. Travelling time is estimated to be around 10 hours from Warangal to Chennai.
This move by Modi could win the hearts of Southern People at least to some extent. Critics who have been accusing him of showing North-South disparity would take a backseat.
