All India Council for Technical Education disclosed that over 60% of the 8 Lakh Engineering Graduates from Technical Institutions in the country are unemployed. This situation contributes to the loss of 20 lakh man days per year.

As per the statistics, Less than 1% of Engineering Students enroll in Summer Internships. Whereas, National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has accredited only 15% Engineering programmes offered by 3,200 institutions.

Majority of the Engineering Graduates are unemployed. To address this issue, Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry is going for a major revamp of Technical Education in the country. From January 2018, A single National Entrance Examination will be conducted for Technical Institutions. Teacher Training Programme will be introduced and Institutions must take part in it for approval. Even Induction Training offered to Students is going to be mandatory. Revision of Curriculum will be done annually.
