AP Government approved the proposal of constructing a tall structure comprising of 23 floors in the new capital Amaravati, exclusively for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) of Telugu origin. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has given his nod for the project even though it wasn't part of the master plan.

NRI Bhavan which is coming up in the core capital adjacent to government buildings will be designed to look like alphabet 'A'. A society with name NRI Telugu Society will be registered in Vijayawada before kickstarting the construction work. Design prepared by a South-Korean Company has been finalized for the project.

Vemuri Ravi, AP Govt Advisor on NRI Affairs, informs estimated cost of NRI Telugu Bhavan is Rs 150 crore. He adds, 'NRI Telugu Society with purchase 25 acres in AP Capital for the project & will mobilize funds from NRIs settled in other countries'.

NRI Telugu Bhavan which will have state-of-the-art facilities will be used for economic & cultural activities.
