An Air India Flight with over 100 Passengers including Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju on board was delayed by close to one-and-a-half hour.

AI-459 Flight from Delhi to Vijayawada was slated for take off at 6 am but finally flew at 7.23 am. Annoyed by the delay, Passengers had confronted the Civil Aviation Minister and staged a protest. Following which, Ashok Gajapati Raju called Air India Chairman and MD Pradeep Kharola to enquire about the reason for delay.

Air India's Operation Wing delayed the take off for better visibility, but the information wasn't passed to the Ground Staff. An issue with the airport pass of the Pilot at the security check extended the delay.

The National Carrier suspended three staffers holding them responsible for the delay and inconvenience caused to the passengers. A warning letter was issued to the Captain for reaching the airport late.
