Veteran Actor Amol Palekar moved a writ petition in Supreme Court seeking drastic changes to the Censorship Laws which remained unchanged for the past 47 Years. Upon accepting the petition, The Apex Court asked Union Government and Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to file their their response over the demand.

In his petition, Amol Palekar sought revamp of the existing Cinematography Act completely. He stressed the need for much more liberal Censor laws in the world of Social Media.

Mr.Palekar even seeks implementation of the report given by Shyam Benegal-led Committee. He urges for limiting the role of Censor Members to certifying films on the basis of age. He opines chopping off of content prior to the theatrical release is denying the right to equality and freedom of expression.

The 72-Year-Old mentioned about the controversy surrounding 'Mann Ki Baat' from a dialogue in a Movie. He also points out the ban on a female-oriented film just because it have some adult content.
