The politics of BJP in Andhra Pradesh are quite interesting and some say they are becoming unpredictable nowadays. There is a talk that party high command's approach is different from the regional leaders. The common people and other parties are treating BJP as the culprit in the Special Category Status issue. The central leadership is just not acting seriously to strengthen the party in such scenario.. they are confining themselves with some leaks. The selection of state president is a shining example of their approach.
It is known that BJP leadership has removed M.P and party president of AP Kambhampati Hari Babu from President post. Delhi leadership has accepted his resignation and they have announced that they will elect a new president. Meanwhile, Hari Babu was given a place in national committee. But they have not chosen the candidate for the president for AP BJP.
The state BJP has been divided into two groups as per the talk. While former minister Kamineni Srinivas, former president Hari Babu are known as TDP chief Chandrababu supporters.. former central minister Purnadhareswari, former minister Kanna Lakshmi Narayana, Manikyala Rao, senior party leader.. MLC Somu Veerraju are known to be the other group. There were predictions that one of the members of the rival group will get the post and Somu Veerraju name has been heard for the post.
There were reports in the media that Veerraju is strongly fighting with TDP so, his selection will surely strengthen the party in the state and he has been finalised by the central leadership. Though the reports suggested that the announcement will come within two days, there is no such announcement for the past one week. Some people are even expressing their doubts whether they will choose a president post or not.
Meanwhile, Kanna Lakshmi Narayana name was also heard for the president post. But the latest reports suggest that he is planning to join another party. Kanna Lakshmi Narayana reportedly met with his supporters to discuss about his future and he is reportedly in touch with the YCP leaders already.
