All bike riders…here is a news which may give you bit disappointment but thanks to the government. Andhra Pradesh government made it compulsory for two-wheeler riders in the state to wear helmets from August 1.

Chief Secretary I Y R Krishna Rao issued notices with this effect. He gave an instruction for implementation of the new rule to the departments concerned during a meeting on road safety in Hyderabad.Krishna Rao asked senior officials to initiate immediate action for implementing the guidelines of the Centre and the instructions issued by Supreme Court on road safety.

Sources said that the traffic teams will intensify patrolling as well as increase the number of checkpoints to ensure effective implementation of the rule. The fines would vary from Rs 100 to Rs 300. Meanwhile Vijayawada traffic police has begun a week-long exercise to educate two-wheeler riders on the importance of wearing helmets, ahead of the launch of making the wearing of helmets compulsory and penalising those who ignore the rule.
