Another Split In Telangana Congress?
X
Will there be another split in the Congress and another merger into the TRS? Likely, say those in the know. The Congress, which hoped to have Telangana in its kitty after it carved out the separate state is now virtually in the kitty of the ruling TRS. Already 12 of its 19 MLAs have joined the TRS and have merged the Congress legislature party into the TRS as they are in a two-thirds majority.

Now the Congress is left with just six MLAs in the AP Assembly, but if the sources are to be believed, it is not sure of preventing a further split in the party. All it takes is just two MLAs defecting from the party. This being one-third of the total, it does not attract the provisions of the anti-defection law. With this the Congress will be left with just four MLAs in the Telangana assembly. According to sources, Sangareddy MLA Turpu Jayaprakash Reddy aka Jagga Reddy and Podem Veeraiah have already negotiated their 'terms of joining' with the TRS boss. Though Reddy was there at the Congress protest programme and addressed the meeting, there are lingering doubts about his loyalty to the Congress. Reddy, originally a BJP man and a follower of 'tiger' Narendra, has joined the TRS. Later, he left the TRS to join the Congress. For a brief period, he came back to the BJP but could not stay there for long. Later, he has again joined the Congress. He is the only Congress MLA from erstwhile Medak district. With his leaving, the party will have no representation in the district at all.
