'Yo-Yo Test' has become a parameter for gaining a place in the Team India squad as Skipper Virat Kohli is very particular about the fitness levels of his Teammates. Ashish Nehra who was part of Kohli-led side until recently disclosed what 'Yo Yo Test' is all about during a conversation with Virender Sehwag. He even leaked the fitness ratings of some of the cricketers.
Nehra said Yo-Yo Test is something similar to the Blip Test which used to exist during the 2001-02 period. Each Cricketer has to cover a range of 20 meters in a certain time and should return to the beginning point on a blip. Attaining 16.1 mark is a must for all Indian Cricketers who wish to represent the country at the International level. Very soon, BCCI is considering raising the bar to 16.5 for qualification. New Zealand cricket board set 18 as a qualifying mark for its cricketers and hence they appear extremely fit.
Yuvraj Singh is yet to cross the 16.1 qualifying mark. Nehra claims to have attained 18.5 rating. Hardik Pandya and Manish Pandey have managed 19 each.
When Sehwag asked about Kohli, Nehra said he have no idea about it. The Indian Skipper who always leads by example is expected to have 19 or even more.
