This Project Launch Has Left Congress Further Divided

It appears the Congress has got a divine curse. Even if reduced to just six MLAs, the party just can't speak in one voice. The deep malaise in the Congress, which is losing its sheen and strength in Telangana was out in the open once again on the issue of Kaleswaram Project.

What should be the Congress approach to accepting CM KCR's invitation to attend the Kaleswaram Project launch - this question has divided the party. While CLP leader Mallu Bhattivikramarka feels that the Congress should boycott the programme because the KCR government has changed the design and removed Pranahita and Chevella from the project, his colleague Turpu Jayaprakash Reddy feels that the Congress should attend the launch as the original project was mooted by late YSR and that the Congress should claim the rightful credit.

This lends credence to the rumours that at least two more Congress MLAs are likely to defect to the TRS. The Congress is now left with just six MLAs and if two more desert it, the number could go down to just four. The rebel faction comprising 12 MLAs has already merged the CLP into the TRS.
