A video of Kashmiri Youth slapping, kicking and hurling abuses at CRPF Jawans while they were returning to their camp after finishing their duty at a polling booth on April 9th stirred a nationwide uproar. Vicky Vishwakarma, one of the Jawans who was heckled by the youth, broke his silence.
In an interview to a National Media House, Vicky Vishwakarma said he and other Jawans maintained restraint because they were taught how to take care of themselves and the country during the training. 'It's a sensitive area. I am not scared of stone-pelters. They tried to provoke us by raising slogans like 'Pakistan Zindabad' and 'Go India, Go Back' but we didn't react. I will serve the country till my last breath,' he said.
Vishwakarma's Mother who was initially scared when her son was posted on the border now says she is so proud of him for doing his duty well.
People across the country showered praises on the CRPF Jawans who maintained restraint inspite of carrying firearms while being attacked by the mod in Srinagar. An investigation has been ordered to send the Kashmiri Youth involved in the incident behind the bars.
