Will Pasupu Kumkuma Save TDP?
X
It is quite interesting to see that after five years of its rule and after so much of talk about Polavaram, AP Capital and Special Status, the ruling TDP in Andhra Pradesh is pinning all its hopes on just one scheme – Pasupu Kumkuma. If asked, the TDP leaders are saying that this scheme is their only hope. They believe this scheme and the oldage pension amount hike are the two schemes that would ensure their victory.

Interestingly, both the programmes started barely three months before the elections. Chandrababu simply copied YS Jagan's Navaratna assurance that he would hike the oldage pension amount to Rs 2000 and announced it ahead of Assembly elections.

In the name of Pasupu Kumkuma, he gave Rs 10000 to Dwcra women. The money is being given to them from the state exchequer.

Interestingly, under the Pawala Vaddi scheme, the government collects 25 paise loan interest from the DWCRA women. This amount is later reimbursed to the women by depositing the same in their accounts. The Pasupu Kumkuma amount is nothing but the interest amount from the DWCRA loan repayments. It's not that the people do not know about it. Yet, Chandrababu feels the scheme will help them tide over the elections. Will this happen or not will be known on May 23, when the votes are counted.
