Telanganites used to have sympathy on Congress as it's the party which sanctioned Statehood despite knowing that the decision would cost it dearly in Andhra Pradesh. That too, Congress was made to sit in the Opposition until now even after sacrificing so much.
The moment TDP formed alliance with Congress, Telanganites had made up their minds to defeat Mahakutami at any cost. Congress would have created more impact had if it contested without any alliance or at least forming Mahakutami without TDP.
Analysts say, Chandrababu Naidu isn't only behind the defeat of Mahakutami but also behind the victory of TRS. The Ruling Party wouldn't have won so many seats had if TDP Supremo didn't campaign in Telangana. Speeches delivered by Chandrababu Naidu and Balakrishna hasn't gone down well with the Telanganites.
Since 2004 Polls, TDP was never able to emerge as single largest party in Telangana though it had alliance with BJP, Congress, TRS, Jana Sena, TJS, CPM and CPI. The 35-Year-Old Party hit a new low with the dismal performance in the 2018 Assembly Polls. Telanganites gave a clear verdict that TDP have no role to play in their state.
