The controversy surrounding the controversial book 'Samajika Smugglerlu Komatollu' written by Professor Kancha Ilaiah has been discussed even in the US House of Representatives.

Harold Trent Franks, A Republican Party Member, raised concern over the safety of Kancha Ilaiah and people like him who are fearless in using their right for freedom of speech. Mentioning about the killing of Journalist Gauri Lankesh who is vocal in opposing the right-wing ideology, He opined the murders of rationalists Govind Pansare, MM Kalburgi and Narendra Dabholkar happened in a similar manner.

Mr.Franks informed the House that TDP Rajya Sabha MP TG Venkatesh has given a call to hang Kancha Ilaiah publicly. 'Kancha Ilaiah received several death threats. He was attacked by a mob while he was on his way to a meeting. To protect himself, Ilaiah is now under self-imposed house arrest. The entire global community should be concerned about the threat to the life of the Professor,' he told.

The Republican opined India, which is the trusted ally and friend of US, is better than this. He said protecting people like Kancha Ilaiah should be the utmost priority of the Indian Government.
