Diwakar Travels Bus Accident: 9 Dead, 30 Injured!

As many as 9 passengers were killed and over 30 others suffered injuries after Diwakar Travels Bus (AP02 TC 7146) heading to Hyderabad from Odisha capital Bhuvaneswar met with an accident at Mullapadu of Penuganchiprolu Mandal, Krishna district. The private bus got struck in the culvert between two flyover upon hitting the divider on bridge located on the National Highway.
Penuganchiprolu & Nandigama Police, Mullapadu Villagers have took part in the rescue operations. Three ambulances were used to shift the injured to the hospitals.
The injured were rushed to Nandigama Government Hospital and Andhra Hospital in Gollapudi. Condition of 10 passengers is said to be critical.
Health Minister Kamineni Sriinivas enquired about the reasons behind the mishap and directed cops to handover the bodies to their family after the completion of port mortem. Preliminary investigation revealed over-speed and drowsiness were the reasons behind the accident. Most of the victims hail from Visakhapatnam.
Diwakar Travels belongs to TDP Anantapur MP JC Diwakar Reddy and Tadipatri MLA JC Prabhakar Reddy.
