Hyd Metro Rail is a Loss Venture: Metro Man

E Sreedharan who is known to be 'Metro Man' says getting approvals for Metro Projects became very difficult because of the new Metro Policy introduced by Centre. He opined Private Parties willn't be keen to invest in Metro Projects.

Shockingly, E Sreedharan didn't hesitate to say Hyderabad Metro Rail Project is going to be a loss venture. He disclosed this is the reason why L&T is delaying the launch of operations even after 7 years. 'L&T might seek compensation from State Government for creating few hurdles which led to delay and cost escalation. This is why PPP isn't a successful model!,' he added.

Mr.Sreedharan found fault with AP Government for considering using of Light-Rail Technology instead of Metro Rail in Vijayawada. 'AP Govt should stick to Metro Rail which was already approved. Light-Rail Technology is more expensive and time consuming, and 50 percent less productive. Vijayawada is growing rapidly. So, Metro Rail is the best option,' says the Metro Man.

As par as Visakha Metro Rail project, E Sreedharan feels the need for research and preparation of DPR.
