Former Secretary to the Union Government EAS Sarma accused TDP Government of favouring private parties such as Reliance Group owned Anil Ambani in the bidding process of Bhogapuram Airport. 'Inspite of Airport Authority of India offering better terms while taking part in the tender process, AP Government cancelled the tender only to benefit a private party (Reliance Group). State Government has blamed Airport Authority of India sans any justification for the delay in the commencement of the Airport Project. Civil Aviation Ministry need to take stern action on the State Government over it's reluctance for awarding the project to a PSU with proven track record,' he demanded.
EAS Sarma claimed he was the one who brought to the notice of Civil Aviation Ministry when GMR, which have hefty liabilities, contemplated on bidding for the Bhogapuram Project. He now alleges that even Reliance Group is facing financial crunch.
The Retired IAS questioned how could TDP Government ignore the exercise meant to identify the good bidders. He maintains State can't be allowed to disassociate the Centre in matters related to establishment of large airports.
