Godavari Boat Mishap: 40 Feared Drowned!

A Boat carrying 60-odd people capsized in the Godavari river in East Godavari on Tuesday evening. This tragedy happened at around 5 pm near Manturu of Devipatnam Mandal, East Godavari district.
AP CM Chandrababu Naidu directed Collector and District Officials to launch rescue operation to save the victims. National Disaster Response Force Personnel have been pressed to trace the missing people.
The ill-fated boat was scheduled to reach Kondamodalu from Rajamahendravaram by Today evening. Close to 20 persons in the boat had swam to banks of the river safely.
Officials say, Strong Wind could be the reason behind the Boat Mishap.
Cops booked a case against Khaja, who operated the ill-fated boat, and carrying out the investigation.
