Rs 100 Coin to be introduced in memory of an Actor
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 Sep 2017 1:16 PM GMTCentre is all set to bring Rs 100 & Rs 5 coins to mark the birth centenary of Film Star, AIADMK Founder and former Tamil Nadu chief minister late MG Ramachandran. Finance Ministry confirmed the decision taken in a notification dated September 11th.
Rs 100 and Rs 5 coins will be circular in shape. While Rs 100 coin will be 44 millimeter in diameter, with a metal composition of Silver (50 percent), Copper (40 percent) and Nickel (5 percent), Rs 5 coin will be 23 millimeter in diameter, with a metal composition of Copper (75 percent), Zinc (20 percent) and Nickel (5 percent). Standard weights of Rs 100 coin and Rs 5 coin will be 35 grams & 6 grams respectively.
Rs 100 coin will bear Ashoka Pillar in the centre, Satyamev Jayate in Devnagari, Rupee Symbol and Rs 100 in numericals below it. While the word Bharat in Devnagari will be on the left periphery of the coin, The word India in English could be found on the right periphery. On the reverse side of the coin, Portrait of MGR appears in the centre. While Ramachandran in Devnagari appears on upper periphery, Dr MG Ramachandran birth centenary in English on the lower periphery of the coin.
