Thoothukudi firing incident has created a huge sensation across India. The people started protesting against the Sterlite copper company expansion because is it is posing a health hazard to the residents of the region. When the protests took a violent turn, police have opened fire and 13 people have lost their lives in the incident.
Several celebrities visited Thoothukudi to extend their solidarity to the people but they faced embarrassment in Thoothukudi. Even Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth had a bitter experience in Thothukudi when went there to extend his solidarity to the victim's families and to convey his condolences. They asked Rajinikanth "Who are you?"
Surprisingly, another star hero visited Thoothukudi and met the victims' families in an unexpected manner and won their hearts. Tamil star hero Vijay became a real star with this real feat. Contrary to the other celebrities who go there for seeking attention, Vijay suddenly went there on a two-wheeler without any prior information or hungama. He went straight to the victim's families. He condoled them and offered them Rs. 1 lakh assistance each to all the victims' families. He returned to Chennai immediately after meeting them.
Vijay is getting huge appreciation from them for his act and Thoothukudi people are showering praises on him that he is a real hero.
