Hirakhand Express derailed in AP: 35 Dead!

Odisha-bound Hirakhand Express derailed near Kuneru Station in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh at around 11.30 PM on Saturday night. As many as 7 coaches which include the Engine, Luggage Van, Two General Coaches, Two Sleeper Coaches, One AC Three Tier Coach and One AC Two Tier Coach. Altogether, The Express Train had 22 coaches.
At least 35 passengers got killed and around 100 others suffered serious injuries. The casualties might increase and the coaches got crushed.
Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has been monitoring the rescue and relief operations. The deceased were taken to Rayagada and Parvathipuram Hospitals. Injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals in four ambulances. Alternative arrangements were made for passengers who are safe to help them reach their destinations.
