Home Minister's Residence set on fire

The protests of Patidar Arakshan Andolan Samiti in Gujarat demanding Other Backward Class (OBC) status for dominant community of Patels in the State took a violent turn after a brief arrest of PAAS Convenor Hardik Patel (22) who led the 56-day agitation.
In the statewide protest which took place on Wednesday, As many as 5 people were killed and over 100 other suffered injuries. Several Private and Government Structures have been damaged in the past two days.
On Thursday, The residence of Gujarat Home Minister Rajani Patel has been set on fire. In the incident, The house of Minister got partly damaged.
To bring the situation into control, Indian Army and Paramilitary Forces have been deployed in Patel-community dominant Cities such as Surat, Rajkot and Mahasena. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed for peace and restraint in his native state.
