Punters lost more than Rs 500 crore with the shocking defeat of India in the World Cup Semi Final.

India was rated as favourites before the match began and after the end of first innings. The rate for India was Rs 4.35 and for New Zealand, it’s 49. That itself is an indication of the least expectations on the Black Caps to win the Semi Final.

Batting first, New Zealand posted a below-par score of 239 at the loss of 8 wickets. Poor Performance by Indian Top Order (Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli) costed India dearly. Team India fell short of the target by 18 runs with the loss of Jadeja and Dhoni in 48th and 49th Overs.

Most of the Punters believed India will defeat New Zealand comfortable. In the end, It turned out to be a nightmare for them because of heavy losses. Those who book suite rooms, planned late night parties had to cancel their arrangements post Dhoni's runout.

In India alone, Not less than Rs 500 crore were lost by the Punters who believed India would go to the Final. Those few who played the gamble by placing bets on New Zealand received good returns.
