Dalit Rights Leader Kancha Ilaiah opined India would have become another Pakistan leading to collapse of Democracy had if Sardar Vallabhai Patel become the first Prime Minister of the country. He made these sensational remarks during the debate on 'Re-imagining The Republic's Icons: Patel, Nehru and Ambedkar' at Times Lit Fest in Delhi.
Kancha Ilaiah: 'Sardar Vallabhai Patel opposed Ambedkar penning the Constituency. As he was close to Hindu Mahasabha, Believers of Manusmriti might have written it. India would have been Pak & Democracy would have collapsed then. But, India gone on the lines of Pakistan for the first 17 years of Democracy.
Narendra Modi saying India's journey would have been different if Patel has been the First Prime Minister was widely discussed.
Kulkarni who is the chief of Observer Research Foundation said we don't need an Iron Man but leaders who would unite people from all walks of life. He also states Patel hardly bothered to address the concerns of the people.
