Why three-time MLA Gangula Kamalakar was made a minister in the latest cabinet rejig in Telangana? Political watchers say KCR has brought him for a good reason. KCR feels that ever since Bandi Sanjay won as the MP defeating KCR's close relative and senior leader Vinod, the politically powerful Munnuru Kapu community is moving towards the BJP. The BJP is also strengthened because Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Srinivas too is a Munnurukapu. Thus, two of the four MPs of the BJP in Telangana are Munnuru Kapus.
On the other hand, one of the strongest Munnuru Kapu leaders in the TRS - Etela Rajender - is sulking and angry. He is not on the best of the terms with KCR. There were rumours that the BJP was trying to lure him into the party . As a result, there is a possibility that the community could completely move away from the TRS. So, KCR decided to have another Munnuru Kapu face in his cabinet. Thus, Gangula Kamalakar, a Munnuru Kapu was made a minister.
KCR hopes that Gangula will be a counter-weight to both Bandi Sanjay and Etela and prevent the exodus of the community from the TRS. Will Gangula Kamalakar be able to fulfil KCR's wishes or will he be seen as KCR's stooge?
