Is This a Plan To Create Tensions Between AP, Telangana?
X
Is there a concerted attempt to drive a wedge between the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh? Is it aimed at hitting the bonhomie between AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao? Those who have watched a recent TV discussion on AP 24, a channel known to be close to the TDP regime, feel that this could be true.

During the discussion on the channel, discussion moderator and senior journalist raked up a controversy when he said that it was the migrants from Andhra Pradesh who taught the Telanganas how to eat rice. Touching the raw Telangana nerve, he further said that the Vodi Biyyam (gifting of cereals to daughter) ritual of the Telangana people was meant to enable the daughters cook rice at least one in a while. Such comments are not just downright derogatory, but the Telangana people feel very touchy about it. In fact, Andhra claim of teaching Telangana people rice-eating has been one of the things that the Telangana people find very insulting. They point out that till about 200 years ago, even Andhra people did not know what was rice.

Through these comments is the channel trying to foment regional passions and pit the people of the two states against one another? Is it trying to hit at the friendship between the two CMs and their respective governments? This question is being hotly debated in the political circles these days. Is the channel playing to the dangerous game to suit the party that has just lost power and is like a fish out of water without power?
