RTC Strike: Is there a Secret Plan to Privatise RTC?
X
Is there a master plan behind the RTC strike? Has the situation been deliberately allowed to deteriorate into a mass strike so that the Government can use this to split the RTC? Is there a secret plan to privatise the RTC using the pretext of the RTC strike?

There is a reason for these doubts. The official union of the RTC is now an affiliate of the TRS. There is no reason why a TRS-affiliate should fight the TRS government itself and paint it black. Also, till recently, Harish Rao was the head of this body and still has great influence on the employees and their union. So, it is likely that both the unions and the government are playing a fixed match to promote the privatisation of the RTC.

It is being reliably learnt that the TRS government in Telangana wants to follow the Madhya Pradesh model. In MP, the government has fully privatised the state road transport corporation. In Tamil Nadu, the state road transport has been divided into five corporations and all of them have been run as private bodies. KCR wants to bring this system to the TSRTC and completely privatise the transport in the state. The strike is being used for that. So, there is a strong buzz that the RTC strike and the Government’s tough stance are aimed at complete privatisation of the RTC and that it's a pre-fixed match.
