Telangana MLAs took oath in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday. First Assembly Session in the 2nd Term following the creation of Telangana Statehood began Today at 11.30 AM.
Caretaker Speaker Mumtaz Ahmed Khan began the proceedings of the house. He made the 119 newly elected MLAs of Telangana take oath. CM K Chandrasekhar Rao completed his oath in Telugu. While Women MLAs Rekha Naidu and Banothu Haripriya took oath in English, Rest of the Legislators took oath in Telugu.
Suspense over the new Speaker of Telangana Assembly has been cleared Today. KCR finalised the name of Senior Leader Pocharam Srinivas Reddy for the Speaker post after holding consultations for several days. Support from Congress and other Parties made his appointment unanimous.
Pocharam joined the Telangana Movement led by KCR quitting TDP. He got elected as MLA six times till date. He have vast experience as an MLA and even served as Minister. Command on Telugu and Fluency in English makes his job as a Speaker easy. Pocharam remained loyal to KCR during the ups and downs of TRS. This is why he was chosen for the respectable post.
