Is Chandrababus Community Ditching Him?

The TDP has always been seen as a party of one particular community. Though the party has given lot of importance to BCs, this is only a part of the strategy to divide the votes and consolidate the BCs behind the dominant community. But, is the community, which has become a byword for the Telugu Desam politics, leaving it in the lurch now? Is it looking for greener pastures elsewhere? The answer is - Yes.

This dominant community is enterprising, industrious and innovative. It needs to be on the right side of the party in power because the industries and businesses need political support. Such communities can never be all-weather friends. They are at best fair weather friends. So, whenever the TDP is out of power, the community leaders tend to look towards other parties. This has happened during the 2004-2014 period in undivided AP. The same is happening now. Take for instance Telangana, where the TRS is in power. The dominant community has deserted the TDP pronto and scooted into the company of the TRS. All the Kamma leaders of Telangana are now in the TRS. The T TDP now has just a couple of BCs and some Reddys as its leaders.

The same thing seems to be happening in Andhra Pradesh too. TDP's biggest money bags like Sujana Chowdary and CM Ramesh have already left the party. Few more like Rayapati may also leave. While some have joined the BJP, some more are looking for an entry into the YSRCP. But, this time it's going to be a lot more tougher for Chandrababu Naidu as even the Kapu community, a dominant section of which has always stood by the party, seems determined to leave the TDP.
