Former Union Law Minister Kapil Sibal who is representing All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) informed Supreme Court that Triple Talaq is a 1,400-Year-Old practice. 'Triple Talaq exists since 637. It's unfair to say such a practice is un-Islamic. Triple Talaq isn't matter of equity and good conscience but faith. Why should anyone intervene in the practice which exists since 1,400 Years?,' he asks.
When Justice Kurian Joseph asked AIMPLB whether e-divorces are happening, Kapil Sibel replied: 'Divorces are happening even on WhatsApp'.
On the other hand, Centre made it clear that a new law will be introduced to prohibit Triple Talaq if Supreme Court ends the practice. Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi argued that injustice is being done to Muslim Women as Men take advantage of Triple Talaq.
