It's now almost official. Prof Kodandaram will fight the election from Janagam and it would be a great disappointment for former PCC chief and BC leader Ponnala Lakshmaih. As per maha Kutami seat sharing, the Professor is likely to contest from Janagam.
Though the Congress had released three lists so far, it kept Janagam pending. This has raised tensions in Ponnala camp as Janagam is his traditional seat and he has contested from there at least thrice. Ponnala camp is deeply upset and sources say that Ponnala might contest on the BSP ticket just as Indrakaran Reddy did from Adilabad in 2014 elections. Ponnala camp reportedly has already made arrangements to file nomination on BSP ticket.
Meanwhile Prof Kodandaram's close relatives, who have already been camping in Janagam for the past few weeks, are calling up ZPTCs, MPTCs and former sarpanches to seek support for Kodandaram. They are also meeting important people from various sections of the society. They have readied up eight Rathams for publicity. Kodandaram is likely to file his papers on November 19.
Meanwhile, several Congress leaders, including 13 councillors of the TRS and 28500 active workers of the party have resigned from the party. They have sent their resignations to PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy. Several party workers have also staged semi-nude protests.
