Kothapalli Subbarayudu kept changing parties frequently in the past 10 years. He ditched TDP and joined PRP when Chiranjeevi forayed into politics. Later, PRP was merged with Congress and he became the member of the National Party. Thereafter, Kothapalli joined YCP but didn't take much time to shift loyalties to TDP. Finally, He is back to YSR Congress party after TDP Leadership denied him Narasapuram Assembly Ticket.

Since sometime, Kothapalli isn't taking part in TDP Activities and he even resigned to the post of Kapu Corporation Chairman Post. Until recently, He was in a dilemma whether to join YCP or Jana Sena. Finally, He preferred YCP even though there is no possibility of bagging MLA Ticket.

Defections into YSR Congress Party continued even after YS Jaganmohan Reddy announced MLA and MP Candidates. Why because, Leaders are so sure about YCP forming the next government in Andhra Pradesh.

Kothapalli Subbarayudu joined YCP ahead of the elections to send an indication that he isn't an opportunistic politician. He might be receiving a crucial post if YSR Congress Party forms the government.
