Huge Advantage To BJP Ahead Of LS Polls

A day after Lok Sabha cleared it, Even Rajya Sabha passed The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2019 which provides 10 percent reservation to the poor in General Category. The Upper House approved the Bill with 165 votes in favour and only 7 votes have been polled against it. Finally, The Bill will be now forwarded to President of India for approval. It's going to be a law after receiving the consent of the President.
A Motion moved by DMK MP Kanimozhi recommending the Bill should be sent to Parliamentary Select Panel was rejected ahead of the voting. While 18 MPs stood supportive of it, 155 MPs opposed it and one MP abstained from taking sides.
The historic move taken by Modi Government brings smiles on the faces of economically weaker sections among the Upper Castes. Poor in the General Category could now avail reservation in jobs and educational institutions.
10 Percent Reservation for Economically Weaker Sections doesn't affect the 50 percent reservation to SCs, STs and OBCs. It's gonna be a huge advantage for BJP with Lok Sabha Polls scheduled to happen soon.
