Bollywood flick 'Indu Sarkar' have 1975-77 Emergency imposed by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as it's backdrop. As a result, Congress Leaders & Activists have been disrupting the promotional campaign of the Team. Press Conferences in Pune and Nagpur have been cancelled because of the same reason.
Upon canceling press meet due to threats from Congress Workers, Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi: 'Dear @OfficeOfRG after Pune I have 2 cancel today's PressCon at Nagpur.Do you approve of this hooliganism? Can I have my Freedom of Expression?'.
The Filmmaker said Team 'Indu Sarkar' is frightened to say the least after receiving threats. He clarified, ''Indu Sarkar' isn't intended to malign anyone. I would have made a documentary instead of feature film if that is my intention. Books have been written…Documentaries were made…Why can't I make a movie? Is this how you behave watching a 3-minutes trailer?'.
