Madras High Court on Thursday rejected the petition filed by India Cements seeking interim relief on the 2-year suspension imposed on Chennai Super Kings by the Supreme Court appointed Lodha Committe. In addition, HC directed BCCI and India Cements to file a counter affidavit and posted the next hearing to September 23rd.

Earlier, Supreme Court appointed Justice Lodha Committee to decide the quantum of punishment for IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings and Rajastham Royals over alleged involvement of its owners (Gurunath Meiyappan & Raj Kundra) in betting during IPL 2013. Lodha Committee awarded two years suspension to both the IPL Franchises and a life ban on its owners.

Indian Cements challenged the verdict of Lodha Committe in Madras High Court stating imposing punishment on the franchises without taking into consideration the charges levelled & offence committed was against the natural justice and fair hearing. It was also mentioned in the petition that Gurunath Meiyappan, who isn't part of India Cements management, was found guilty of only betting but not spot-fixing, match-fixing & misuse of inside information. Still, High Court quashed the petition and N Srinivasan is in trouble.
