'One punch back and long,' India's coach Raffaele Bergamasco shouted out to Mary Kom from the corner, during the first round of her quarter-final against Colombia's Valencia Victoria at the World Championships in Ulan Ude, Russia on Thursday.

In the end, it was an easy decision for the judges, 5-0 to Kom, and an assured bronze medal in a 51 kg category quarterfinal. An incredible eighth medal in her overall tally at the worlds. The last time she won the top prize in the year 2010 in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Mary Kom a mother of 3 won a silver in the inaugural edition in 2001 and then went to win the gold each in the five consecutive editions 2002, 2006, 2005, 2008 and 2010.
