The case was transferred to CBI after preliminary investigation by local police. In April 2011, NIA took over the probe and examined 226 witnesses.

On Monday, The Special NIA Court in Hyderabad acquitted all the five accused in the Mecca Masjid blast case on grounds of lack of evidence.

Two other accused are absconding. Five Accused who faced the trail have been now acquitted as NIA failed to produce concrete evidence to prove their role.
