Union minister for social justice and RPI party chief, Ramdas Athawale was assaulted at a public program in Maharashtra's Ambarnath. The incident took place on Saturday night.
The person who slapped the minister is identified as Praveen Gosavi. He not only tried to slap Ramdas while he was walking down the stage during the Constitution Day function on Saturday, but he also tried to push him. However, the party workers quickly moved that person away from Ramdas and handed him over to the police. Talking about the incident, Athawale stated that he will meet the chief minister and inquire about it.
Party workers assembled outside Athawale's residence with party flags claiming that the attack was pre-planned. Post the protests by members of Republican Party, they have called for a statewide bandh on Sunday in Maharashtra.
