Modi's Stunning Decision During Atal Ji's Last Journey

In an unprecedented move that showed he utmost regard and reverence he had for former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi set aside protocol and walked at the 15 km distance along with the cortage to the Smriti Sthal where Atal ji was cremated with full state honours. This shows the deep impact Atal ji made on the lives of even persons like Modi.
Vajpayee 's last journey showed the immense love that the people of this country have for him. A staggering five lakh people from all walks of life and all parts of the country poured in voluntarily and walked along with the cortege of the great leader. Ministers, chief ministers, MPs, MLAs and a lot many VIPs joined the walk.
Modi has set aside protocol and rejected the appeals of the security personnel when he decided to walk all the way to the Smriti Sthal. Modi's walk has attracted national attention and has shown the stature of Atalji in the eyes of his followers. He was accompanied by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP national president Amit Shah.
By this one act, Modi has shown to the world what he is. This is the first time that a Prime Miinister of our country has walked for such a long distance during the last journey of any national leader. Even during Mahatma Gandhi's last journey, Nehru sat on the cortege and did not walk.
