Rajya Sabha seat for Yakub Menon's Wife

Samajwadi Party leader Mohammed Farooq Ghosi demanded Rajya Sabha seat for the wife of 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon who was hanged on Thursday.
Barely 2 days after the death penalty was implemented, Mohammed Farooq Ghosi who is Maharashtra's Samajwadi Party unit Vice President described Yakub Menon's wife Raheen as helpless and given a call to fight for her. "Raheen served jail sentence for several years. She is helpless and suffered a lot. We should make her a Rajya Sabha MP so that she could be the voice of helpless & weaker section," he told.
Samajwadi Party, however, distanced itself from the controversial statements of Mohammed Farooq Ghosi and even suspended him from the party. Maharashtra SP unit President Azmi said Ghosi hasn't consulted the party before making those comments.
BJP, on the other hand, alleges Ghosi's objectionable remarks only hint Samajwadi Party is only interested in vote-bank politics.
