159% Increase Of Debt For Telangana In 5 Years

In 5 years since bifurcation, Debts of Telangana increased by 159 percent. When the United AP was bifurcated, Telangana State had a debt of Rs 69,517 crore.

While the debt used to be Rs 79,880 crore in 2014-15, The burden touched Rs 1.80 lakh crore in 2018-19. For 2014-15 Financial Year, Telangana State paid Rs 5,593 crore interest on debt. Telangana Government has paid an interest of Rs 11,691 crore for fiscal 2018-19.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman informed Rajya Sabha on Tuesday about the growing debts of Telangana State. She brought to notice of the House that the burden on the youngest state increased to Rs 1,80,239 crore in five years.

Welfare Schemes and Irrigation Projects taken up by TRS Government led to this situation. What will KCR do to decrease the debts?
