Criticism on the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel statue in Gujarat kept growing day-by-day. Not just Indians, Lawmakers in Foreign Countries have been finding fault with Prime Minister Narendra Modi splurging Rs 3,000 crore for a statue.

UK Parliamentarian Peter Bone didn't mind calling the so-called World's Tallest Statue 'total non-sense'. He went on to say it is one of those things that drives people mad.

Peter Bone slammed NDA Government for using a part of 1.7 billion pounds offered to India by UK as foreign aid for the Sardar Statue. He feels there is no necessity to offer foreign aid to India if it can afford so much money to set up a single statue.

UK's foreign aid to India: 300 million pounds in 2012, 278 million pounds in 2013, 278 million pounds in 2014 and 185 million pounds in 2015.
