Maharashtra Government enforced Plastic Ban all over the state from June 23rd. Neither Single-Use Plastic Items nor Thermocol will be permitted to use.
Hefty Fines ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000 will be imposed on those using banned stuff. While Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 is the fine amount for first two offences, A third offense could lead to Rs 25,000 fine and 3 months imprisonment.
Banned Items - Plastic Bags, Plastic Containers, Plastic Bowls, Dishes, Cups & Cutlery used for packaging food in hotels & restaurants.
Using Plastic & Thermocol for decoration was banned.
Milk Pouches, Food-grade Plastic Bags under 50 microns, Plastic Packaging of Medicines, Pre-Packaged Products and Biodegradable Garbage Bin Bags were exempted from the ban.
Only the Inspectors wearing Uniform and authorization letter can levy fines. Those individuals who can't pay the fine has to face the prosecution.
