Pravin Togadia has been synonymous with Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) for the last few decades. In a shocking development, he has quit the organisation. Elections were held for the post of president recently and Pravin Togadia nominated Raghav Reddy. On the other hand, RSS supported former Himachal Pradesh Governor V S Kokje.
Pravin Togadia has quit VHP after his nominee Raghav Reddy was defeated in the election by a two-thirds margin. Kokje got 131 votes out of 192 votes. The defeat of Pravin Togadia backed candidate is shown as a Sangh Parivar's support to Modi. It is known that Togadia has been vocal in criticising Narendra Modi for quite some time.
The new VHP president nominated Alok Kumar as international working president as a replacement for Togadia. Watching the developments, Pravin Togadia immediately quit VHP and announced his future course of action in taking up Hindutva agenda ahead. He said that he will sit on a fast in Ahmedabad from Tuesday with demands like.. Construction of Ram temple, protection of cows.. common civil code etc.
